Spring has arrived in Cortez, Colorado, and it'll be time soon to hit the trails for some epic mountain biking adventures! With milder temperatures and clear skies, early spring offers the perfect conditions "hero dirt" to explore the great outdoors on two wheels. Cortez is home to a range of mountain bike trails that cater to all levels of riders. One of the most popular trails is Phil's World, located just 2 miles east of Cortez and directly across from the Montezuma County Fairgrounds. This world-renowned trail system is home to the annual Twelve Hours of Mesa Verde ride and offers over 60 miles of singletrack with a variety of terrain, including fast flowy sections, technical rock gardens, and jumps. Another popular trail in the area is Sand Canyon, situated south of Cortez. This trail provides a breathtaking ride through ancient Anasazi ruins and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
